About the Artist

Tjunkiya Napaltjarri was a Pintupi-speaking Indigenous artist from Australia's Western Desert region. She was the sister of artist Wintjiya Napaltjarri and passed away in 2009. 


Tjunkiya's paintings are held in major public art collections, including those of the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the National Gallery of Victoria. 

About the Work

Napaltjarri is renowned for her dreaming landscapes, typically untitled works, depicting different versions of the site at Yumari, a significant and stunning part of the arid landscapes of the western desert region.
