About the Artist
Semeria is the daughter of renowned artists John Mawurndjul and Kay Lindjuwanga. She is part of the next generation of Kuninjku artists trained and working in the stories of her father whose career has been celebrated for decades.
About the Work
Semeria learnt painting from her father, who is renowned for his abstract representations of important sites located in his clan estate.
The family paintings are typically composed of images of particular waterholes, the sinuous links of water flowing between them, and fields of crosshatched energy emanating from these places. Sometimes there may be a bar of colour, often white, across the work that represents a particular feature of landscape such as a rocky outcrop or cliff at the site.
